New ‘Andor’ Trailer Follows Diego Luna’s Cassian and the Birth of the Rebel Alliance

“We’re in a war. Do you want to fight, or do you want to win?” The words spoken by Diego Luna seem to be the theme in the newly released Andor Season Two trailer. In it, Luna’s Cassian Andor fires off missiles, triggers explosives, and dodges incoming gunfire as he becomes a key player in the Rebel Alliance. . In the second installment of Lucasfilm’s prequel to Rogue One, Luna’s Cassian becomes a key player in the Rebel Alliance.

As Star Wars fans know, Andor serves as a prequel to 2016’s Rogue One, which followed the heroic rebel troupe who stole plans for the Death Star, the Empire’s weapon of mass destruction. In Andor Season One, Cassian transformed from a cynical outsider to a rebel hero. Season Two will find the characters having more confidence and readying themselves as a potential war becomes an increasing threat.

Showrunner Tony Gilroy highlighted the film’s scale and ordinary characters, from Imperial overlords to passionate revolutionaries, in a statement Monday.

“They are real people making epic decisions, all of them staring down questions with terrifying consequences,” Gilroy said. “Cassian’s journey is the soul and spine of our story, but it’s the choir that makes the show. I’m so excited for audiences to see where we go in Season 2.”

Genevieve O’Reilly, who played a younger Mon Mothma in 1983’s Return of the Jedi, returns for the Imperial Senate role in the second season. Stellan Skarsgård and Kyle Solle also return as newcomer Luthen Raeland villain Syril Karn, respectively. Other cast members include Denise Gough, Adria Arjona, Faye Marsay, Varada Sethu, Elizabeth Dulau, Alan Tudyk, Ben Mendelsohn, and Forest Whitaker.

The series was initially slated for five seasons, with each 12-episode season focused on a year, but Gilroy and Luna later learned it would be a logistical nightmare. After filming the fifth and sixth episodes of Season One, they realized the five-season project would take 15 years, and Luna could not play a younger man over the given timeframe, Gilroy previously told Rolling Stone. So, in the second season, every three-episode block will cover a year. The second season will take place over 12 episodes and will be released on April 22.
