Tyler, the Creator Ends Huge Year With New Freestyle ‘Sag Harbor’

· Rolling Stone

Tyler, the Creator is reflecting on his mega year, celebrating with a remix of “Sugar on My Tongue” and a new freestyle, “Sag Harbor.”

The 34-year-old rapper has had an incredible run in 2025: a sold-out world tour for his eighth studio album Chromakopia; a critically acclaimed surprise summer album in Don’t Tap the Glass; six Grammy nominations; and a major first film role alongside Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow in A24’s much-hyped Marty Supreme

Taking a beat to reflect on the whirlwind, Tyler hints at what’s next for him on “Sag Harbor,” where he’s on the hunt for “estates not a mansion” and planning on upgrading his shows to stadium tours. He marvels that he’s now on the same playing field as some of his music idols, feeling like he’s back “grindin’ like it’s 2002″ (a fun nod to the Clipse classic).

Apparently in the Christmas spirit, Tyler also released a new “Freak Mix” for “Sugar on My Tongue,” with some less than family-friendly lyrics. The track originally appeared on Don’t Tap the Glass, which Tyler surprise-released in July.

On a more serious note, Tyler thanked his fans for their continued support. “What an incredible year, thank you for all the eyes and ears,” he signed off on the “Sag Harbor” freestyle video.

Tyler’s six Grammy nominations this year are largely for Chromakopia, which is up for Album of the Year, Best Rap Album, and Best Album Cover. Don’t Tap the Glass, meanwhile, earned a Best Alternative Music Album nod, while Chromakopia tracks “Darling, I” and “Sticky” are up for Best Rap Performance and Rap Song, respectively.
