Taylor Swift’s “Patient Zero” Debuts At No. 1 On The Billboard Hot 100, Dethroning Ella Langley
by Ken Partridge · GeniusAmerica is choosing Taylor Swift. The pop juggernaut’s latest single, “Patient Zero,” has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Swift the 16th chart-topper of her career. “Patient Zero” replaces Ella Langley’s country smash “Choosin’ Texas,” which last week broke the record for most weeks at No. 1, with 24.
“Patient Zero” appears on the The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, the deluxe edition of Swift’s 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl. As a result of “Patient Zero” and three other new songs, Showgirl is back on top of the Billboard 200 album chart for a 13th week.
Taylor Swift has a long way to go before “Patient Zero” challenges “Choosin’ Texas” for most weeks at No. 1, but as Billboard reports, Swift is nearing at least one other record. Her 16 No. 1 hits mean she’s edging closer to catching Mariah Carey (19 No. 1 hits) and The Beatles (20) on the list of artists with the most chart-toppers.
