Indeed, JAŸ-Z Is Headlining The Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show

Last week’s rumors were true: JAŸ-Z is headlining the Super Bowl LIX halftime show at SoFi Stadium on February 14. The NFL, Apple Music, and Jay’s company Roc Nation—which has been in charge of picking halftime headliners since 2019—announced the news last night. According to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Jay agreed to play the big game “whenever the moment felt right to him,” and it’s easy to see why he picked this year, as he just wrapped up touring to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt.

“From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl halftime stage, this has been a journey,” JAŸ-Z said in a statement. “Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”

The Super Bowl will mark a return to SoFi Stadium for JAŸ-Z, as he just finished his tour there over the weekend and welcomed a slew of special guests, including Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Too $hort, John Legend, Scarface, and his daughter Blue Ivy Carter.

This will be Jay’s first time playing the Super Bowl. His wife, Beyoncé, has notably performed twice—headlining in 2013 and guesting alongside Bruno Mars and Coldplay in 2016.
