J. Cole Sets Release Date For New Album ‘The Fall-Off,’ Releases Teaser Video

J. Cole has been talking about The Fall-Off for a decade—ever since 2016’s KOD, which ends with a track called “1985 – Intro to The Fall-Off.” Now, we finally have a release date for the long-awaited project. It will arrive February 6, and that’s according to a new teaser video that offers some insights into the Fayetteville rapper’s mindset.

In the video, as Cole washes his car and eats dinner at a restaurant, a voiceover talks about how—especially in show business—nothing is meant to last. We often mock musicians who lose their popularity, but it’s all part of a “natural cycle” of fame, the voice tells us.

“So few people reach that level, that yes, of course, it’s not going to last forever, because somebody else has to take that spot,” the voice says.

The Fall-Off follows 2021’s The Off-Season and the 2024 mixtape Might Delete Later, which originally ended with “7 Minute Drill,” Cole’s entry into the battle involving Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Cole later apologized for the song and pulled it from streaming services.
