Raja Shivaji has crossed the Rs 100-crore gross mark at the domestic box office, making it one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Marathi cinema, and only behind Sairat. The film, directed by and starring Riteish Deshmukh, is based on the life of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and has continued to set records since its release on May 1.

The film began its run with a first weekend gross of Rs 40.35 crore, the biggest opening weekend ever for a Marathi film. Its performance has remained strong in the weeks since, with support in Maharashtra and steady numbers from its Hindi version helping it maintain momentum at the box office.
