Unstoppable Hanuman Ansh now beats Dhurandhar 2 in 5th weekend at box office

Hanuman Ansh, a Rs 2-crore devotional drama, has pulled off a stunning box-office feat by surpassing the fifth-weekend collections of Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar films. Driven by strong word of mouth, the film has set a new benchmark for fifth-weekend collections in Hindi cinema.

Ranveer Singh and director Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge may have emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of 2026, but a Rs 2-crore devotional drama, Hanuman Ansh, has just delivered a stunning fifth-weekend box-office upset. Hanuman Ansh collected Rs 49.25 crore nett over its fifth Friday, Saturday and Sunday, nearly four times the Rs 12.55 crore that Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar 2 earned in its fifth weekend earlier this year.

The comparison gets even more striking when Dhurandhar is brought into the picture. The original film had set a formidable fifth-weekend benchmark of Rs 33.25 crore. Hanuman Ansh has now gone past that number as well, collecting Rs 16 crore more than Dhurandhar and Rs 36.70 crore more than Dhurandhar 2.

In other words, a film made on a reported budget of just Rs 2 crore has outperformed both films from Aditya Dhar's blockbuster franchise in their fifth-weekend runs.

Hanuman Ansh vs Dhurandhar vs Dhurandhar 2

The scale of the achievement becomes clear when the three films' fifth-weekend numbers are placed side by side.

Dhurandhar 2 earned Rs 2.70 crore on its fifth Friday, Rs 4.65 crore on its fifth Saturday and Rs 5.20 crore on its fifth Sunday, taking its weekend total to Rs 12.55 crore.

Dhurandhar, meanwhile, collected Rs 8.75 crore, Rs 11.75 crore and Rs 12.75 crore on its corresponding three days, adding up to Rs 33.25 crore.

Hanuman Ansh comfortably surpassed both.

Dhurandhar 2 figures are from its fifth weekend in April 2026.

Hanuman Ansh's fifth weekend was bigger than both films combined

There is another way to look at the numbers: Hanuman Ansh's Rs 49.25 crore fifth weekend was not only higher than either Dhurandhar film individually, it was also Rs 3.45 crore more than the combined fifth-weekend collections of Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar 2.

That makes the achievement particularly unusual. Both Dhurandhar films were major star-driven blockbusters with enormous theatrical runs. Hanuman Ansh, by contrast, started with a relatively modest footprint and has built its business almost entirely through sustained audience demand and word of mouth.

The original Dhurandhar benchmark is gone

The original Dhurandhar had established itself as a remarkable long-run performer. Its fifth weekend brought in Rs 33.25 crore nett, making it one of the strongest fifth-weekend performances in Hindi cinema.

Hanuman Ansh has now moved that benchmark considerably higher.

It collected Rs 10 crore on its fifth Friday before jumping 65 per cent to Rs 16.50 crore on Saturday. On Sunday, it climbed another 37.9 per cent to Rs 22.75 crore.

Hanuman Ansh was therefore not simply holding steady in its fifth week. It was growing every day of the weekend — something that is extremely rare for a film this deep into its theatrical run.

Dhurandhar 2's fifth weekend tells a different story

Dhurandhar 2 had an extraordinary overall run and crossed Rs 1,100 crore nett in India during its fifth week. By Day 30, its India nett stood at around Rs 1,103.51 crore.

However, its fifth weekend was significantly quieter than that of its predecessor. The sequel earned Rs 2.70 crore on Friday, Rs 4.65 crore on Saturday and Rs 5.20 crore on Sunday, for a Rs 12.55 crore weekend.

That is where Hanuman Ansh's performance becomes extraordinary. The devotional drama's fifth Sunday alone — Rs 22.75 crore — was almost twice the entire fifth weekend of Dhurandhar 2.

Fifth Sunday is where Hanuman Ansh went berserk

The biggest shock came on Sunday. Hanuman Ansh recorded Rs 22.75 crore nett on its fifth Sunday, its biggest single-day collection of the fifth week. Its show count also increased through the weekend, rising from 5,055 on Friday to 6,055 on Saturday and 7,077 on Sunday. Occupancy climbed from 47 per cent to 62 per cent and then 73 per cent.

The Hindi-only occupancy reached 78.54 per cent on Sunday.

The trend was visible in ticket sales too. Hanuman Ansh sold approximately 2.95 lakh tickets on BookMyShow on Friday, followed by 5.14 lakh on Saturday and 4.13 lakh on Sunday.

From Rs 2 crore film to one of 2026's biggest box-office stories

By the end of Day 31, Hanuman Ansh had reached Rs 122.13 crore nett in India. It had entered its fifth weekend with Rs 82.88 crore and added Rs 39.25 crore in just three days.

The film has since continued its extraordinary run, crossing Rs 150 crore in India gross on Day 32.

What makes the numbers remarkable is the film's reported Rs 2 crore budget. It has now not only crossed the Rs 100-crore nett milestone but has also delivered a fifth weekend bigger than those of both Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar 2.

Dhurandhar 2 remains a far bigger film in terms of its overall theatrical business — it crossed Rs 1,100 crore nett in India — but on this particular metric, Hanuman Ansh has pulled off the unlikely upset.

A Rs 2-crore devotional drama has just beaten the fifth-weekend numbers of both Dhurandhar films. And with Rs 49.25 crore in its fifth weekend, Hanuman Ansh has set a benchmark that will be difficult for even the biggest Hindi blockbusters to match.
