Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan is known for his witty sense of humour and quick wit during interviews and at events. But, in the current times, the 58-year-old actor thinks it is "better not to have a sense of humour," as people take offence easily.

Speaking on the Locarno Meets podcast, Shah Rukh stated he is sure that he can make people laugh with his sense of humour. "I think I have an innate sense of humour, and I can make people laugh, but it's very inappropriate at times also. So I try to control myself; I'm told by my team all the time, 'People don't understand your humour,'" he said.

But in current times, when stand-up comics are scrutinised over their jokes, Shah Rukh also feels it is better not to be humorous. "But now people have become very sensitive. You say something, and everybody, somebody gets disturbed. It's better to not have a sense of humour," the actor expressed.

While it is easier for Shah Rukh to make people laugh in his personal life, as an actor on the big screen, he feels, "Comedy is very difficult."

"I think it's a very serious business. It's very difficult. It's the one where most actors have failed. It's where I have failed often," he said while mentioning that he succeeded with Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express but chose not to jump into another comedy-drama soon.

During the podcast, Shah Rukh also shared his experience of working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas and mentioned that he approached the iconic character not as a tragic loser but as a man with his own reasons for not committing to love.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan will next be seen in Sujoy Ghosh's King, where he will share the screen with his daughter Suhana Khan and actor Abhishek Bachchan.
