GEETU - THE ACTOR

Geetu Mohandas's birth name is Gayatri Das. Since her family members fondly call her Geetu, she adapted it as her screen name. She began her career as a child artist in the Malayalam film industry. She shared the screen with Mohanlal in her fourth film, Onnu Muthal Poojyam Vare, in 1996. She received the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist.

She then went on to appear in many films, such as Sayam Sandhya, Veendum, Rareeram, and Fazil's iconic film, En Bommukutty Ammavukku.

Geetu made her debut as a lead actor in Life Is Beautiful, which was released in 2000. She played character and lead roles in many films such as Thenkasipattanam, Krishna Gopalakrishna, Nala Damayanthi, Oridam, Rapppakal, Bharathan Effect, Naalu Pennungal, Akasha Gopuram and Seetha Kalyanam, among others. Her last acting project was Nammal Thammil in 2009.

GEETU - THE DIRECTOR

In 2009, Geetu Mohandas established her production house, Unplugged, and bankrolled her debut short film, Kelkkunnundo. She catapulted to fame when she directed the socio-political film, Liar's Dice, which won many awards. The film bagged two National Film Awards and was also India's official entry for the 87th Oscars. However, the film didn't make it to the shortlist.

Her second full-fledged directorial venture was Nivin Pauly's Moothon, which received critical acclaim. It won the Global Filmmaking Award at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016.
