Actor Yash has reportedly commenced shooting for the filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari's magnum opus, Ramayana, in Mumbai. Yash will play the character of Ravana in the film.
Yash, who was already in Mumbai for Toxic, has begun shooting for a war sequence, as per reports. A source quoted by a leading portal shared that Yash started filming his portions for Ramayana on Friday, after two days of costume trials.
The report further mentioned that the team will shoot some of the crucial war scenes at Aksa Beach in Mumbai. Later, the makers will move to a studio in Dahisar. However, Ranbir Kapoor will not be joining the Kannada superstar.
The source informed the portal, "The war portions are being mounted on a grand scale, with the action choreography designed to reflect Ravana's strategic prowess. It will be a combination of green-screen shots and those shot on the ground and involve heavy VFX work. This set piece doesn't require Ranbir's presence as it's not the Ram-Ravana face-off.
Other key actors have joined Yash for this leg."
Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana will be released in two parts. The first part is scheduled for Diwali 2026 release, while the second instalment will be out on Diwali 2027. Ramayana also features Lara Dutta, Sunny Deol, Indira Krishna, among others, in pivotal roles.
