The Critics' Choice Awards 2025 has been postponed due to the devastating Los Angeles Wildfires. Many Hollywood events and premieres, including BAFTA Tea Party have been cancelled due to the fires, which led to the death of two people. According to Reuters, many buildings were ruined and over 70,000 people were evacuated to safe spaces as the firefighters are trying to control the fires.
As per the official statement from the Critics' Choice Awards (CCA), the ceremony has now been postponed to January 26 from January 12. Joey Berlin, CEO of the CCA, shared a statement which read, "This unfolding tragedy has already had a profound impact on our community. All our thoughts and prayers are with those battling the devastating fires and with all who have been affected."
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts' Tea Party, which was scheduled to take place on January 11 in Beverly Hills, California, has been cancelled as well.
"In light of the dangerous winds and wildfires in Los Angeles, we are cancelling this weekend's BAFTA Tea Party. The safety of our colleagues, friends and peers in Los Angeles remains our utmost priority and our thoughts are with everyone impacted," read their statement.
The Los Angeles premiere shows of The Last Showgirl, Better Man, Wolf Man and Unstoppable have been cancelled as well.
Many actors including Eugene Levy, James Woods, reality television stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, were some of the celebrities who had to be evactuated from their California residences due to the raging fires.
