The nominations for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards were officially announced on Tuesday. Actors Noah Wyle and Adam Scott received their first-ever nominations in the Best Actor in a Drama Series category. The Emmy Awards will be broadcast live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 14, hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze, according to the Associated Press.

Television legends Noah Wyle and Adam Scott are both nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series — Wyle for his performance in The Pitt and Scott for Severance. Although Wyle was previously a five-time nominee for his iconic role as Dr. John Carter in ER, this marks his first opportunity to take home an Emmy. Meanwhile, Scott — known for his comedic role in Parks and Recreation — has received his first nomination for the Apple TV+ dystopian drama Severance.

Actress Kathy Bates is a top contender in the Best Actress in a Drama Series category for her role in CBS's Matlock.

According to the AP, with 15 career Emmy nominations and two previous wins, Bates is making history as only the second actor from a network series to be nominated in this category since Viola Davis in 2019.

Ahead of the complete nominations list, CBS Mornings revealed two major categories:

Outstanding Talk Series: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Outstanding Reality Competition Series: The Amazing Race, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Survivor, Top Chef, and The Traitors
