UI box office Day 1 prediction: Upendra film to earn over Rs 5 crore

Kannada actor Upendra's much-anticipated film UI hit theatres today. The film has already collected Rs 5 crore and the collection from the night show is yet to be estimated.

Kannada actor Upendra's UI released in the theares today. The film has been one of the anticipated films of the year. It has also been mounted on a big-budget of reportedly Rs 100 crore. Needless to say, the film is expected to do well at the box office.

If trends are to be believed, then UI might earn close to Rs 7.5 on its opening day. According to tracking website Sacnilk, the film has alreafy grossed over Rs 4.96 crore across all languages. This is not taking into consideration the night shows, which a chunk of the audience prefer given today is a working day.

For the Kannada version, the film already had a whopping 66.63 per cent till the evening shows. There is also a chance that UI might not be able to overtake the opening day collection of his last release, Kabzaa. Kabzaa earned over Rs 10 crore. Here is the trailer of UI:

India Today's review of UI read, "With its visual grandeur, UI is undoubtedly a theatrical experience. However, viewers may find themselves revisiting it multiple times to fully connect with its message-oriented storytelling."

Produced by G Manohar and KP Shreekanth under the banner of Lahari Films, the film is co-produced by Naveen Manohar, who is also credited with the excellent VFX work. The music has been composed by B Ajaneesh Loknath. Apart from Kannada, the film has also released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
