Veteran music composer Pyarelal's wife, Sunila Sharma, died in Mumbai on 12 July at the age of 78. The news was shared in a social media announcement by the family, which said she died peacefully while surrounded by her family.

Pyarelal is mourning the loss of his wife. In its statement, the family said, "With deep grief and love in our hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Amma, Sunila Pyarelal Sharma, who left for her heavenly abode on July 12, 2026, surrounded by the warmth of her family (sic)."

The family's message remembered Sunila for her grace, compassion, and quiet resilience while thanking everyone who had supported them during this difficult period. The note added, "Amma lived a life of grace, devotion, and quiet strength - a pillar of unconditional love to all who knew her. While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing she is finally at peace (sic)." Expressing gratitude for the prayers and condolences they have received, the family concluded, "We are deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support of our family and friends during this time. Your work here is beautifully finished, Amma. Rest in eternal peace (sic)."

The family confirmed the details of Sunila Sharma's final rites, with her funeral scheduled for July 13 at the Dattatray Road Crematorium in Santacruz (West), Mumbai. Friends, relatives, and members of the entertainment industry are expected to gather to pay their final respects.

Pyarelal remains one of Indian cinema's most celebrated music composers. Alongside the late Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar, he formed the iconic Laxmikant-Pyarelal duo, whose music defined generations of Hindi films. Across several decades, the pair composed unforgettable songs for hundreds of movies and created some of Bollywood's most enduring soundtracks. Their work includes classics such as Bobby, Karz, Amar Akbar Anthony, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Hero, Mr India, Ram Lakhan, Tezaab, Ek Duuje Ke Liye, and Utsav.
