Actor Ishaan Khatter has announced his next project, Jugaadu, in which he will star opposite Punjabi actor Tania. The film will be directed by Palash Vaswani, best known for helming Sony LIV's Gullak, and is backed by Tips Films and Baweja Studios.

The announcement was made on Wednesday through Ishaan's social media post, where he shared a picture of himself with a clapboard. The post also drew reactions from several members of the film industry.

Sharing the update, Ishaan wrote, "Ladies and gentlemen, get ready for Jugaadu. My first in and as! Cooking with an incredible and passionate team to bring you this riot of an entertainer in cinemas soon (sic)."

Several celebrities reacted to the post soon after it went up. Ishaan's Homebound co-star Vishal Jethwa commented, "Congratulations. So excited for this one (sic)." Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar also commented, "Congratulations (sic)." Shahid Kapoor and Shilpa Shetty were among those who liked the post.

Homebound and recent work

Ishaan was last seen in Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan. The film follows two childhood friends, Chandan, a Dalit played by Vishal Jethwa, and Shoaib, a Muslim played by Ishaan Khatter. Set in a North Indian town, the story shows the two young men trying to become police officers in the hope of escaping the hostility around them. It also featured Janhvi Kapoor in a pivotal role.

Ishaan is now preparing for the next season of his web series The Royals. The makers had earlier confirmed that the show will return with a new season on Netflix.

The first season featured Bhumi Pednekar, Udit Arora, Zeenat Aman and Sakshi Tanwar along with Ishaan. The series follows Prince Aviraaj Singh, played by Ishaan, as he struggles with the responsibilities of royal life after the death of his father, King Yuvanath.
