The makers of Main Vaapas Aaunga released the trailer of the film on Tuesday. The film, starring Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari Wagh and Vedang Raina is directed by Imtiaz Ali. The trailer suggests a love story set in during the India-Pakistan Partition era, and presents a story of longing and belonging.

The trailer opens with Shah's character expressing his final wish: to visit his pind, Sargodha, now in Pakistan's Punjab, where he lived before Partition. As the trailer proceeds, we see Dosanjh, who plays Shah's grandson, trying to make sense of his wish and doing everything to fulfil it.

The three minutes 10 seconds video also establishes Vedang playing a young Naseeruddin Shah, head-over-heels in love with Sharvari. It further focusses on both a personal and historical journey. The story compels you to ask whether love can truly be lost with time and whether home can be taken away from someone's heart.

In fact, a dialogue by Diljit in the trailer sums up the film's story: "Ye ho sakta hai - apne dil ke andar ek ladki ko rakhna jise 78 years se dekha tak nahi [Is it possible to love a girl whom you haven't even seen for 78 years]?" The story explores how love can be both painful and powerful, pushing people towards incomprehensible choices in life.

The film's music stands out in the trailer , with Punjabi melodies, folk rhythms, and an old-world melancholy soaking into its atmosphere.

Main Vaapas Aaunga brings together AR Rahman, Irshad Kamil and Imtiaz Ali. The trio has previously worked together on films including Jab We Met and Rockstar.

The film is scheduled for release in theatres on June 12.
