- She mistakenly posted Lata Mangeshkar’s photo
- Social media users quickly pointed out the error
Actor Athiya Shetty on Sunday mourned the death of singer Asha Bhosle with a social media post. However, she became a focus of online criticism when social media users realised that she had shared a photo of the late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar instead of Bhosle's in her Instagram Stories.
Shetty shared a condolence message on Instagram, following Bhosle's death. However, she mistakenly used a photograph of Mangeshkar, sister of Asha Bhosle, who died on February 6, 2022. The mistake was quickly identified by social media users, who highlighted the incorrect image. Athiya removed the post shortly after the error was noticed and shared Bhosle's picture.
Despite the deleted post, screenshots were circulated widely on social platforms, leading to a wave of negative reactions directed at the actor. No further comment was made by Shetty regarding the mix-up or the response it received. Several X users called out the mistake, with reactions ranging from disbelief to harsh criticism.
A user wrote, "Athiya Shetty Is Beauty Without Brains She posted a story with photo of Late Lata Mangeshkar instead of Late Asha Bhosle. Nepo kids just want to be relevant somehow, without hardwork or struggle and that’s why their movies flop and they make such blunders (sic)."
Another user commented, "Athiya Shetty gone mad. She uploaded a picture of Lata Mangeshkar instead of Asha Bhosle (sic)."
An X reaction also read, "Athiya Shetty want to be such aesthetic girl but something is off always."
While Athiya Shetty has yet to issue a formal clarification regarding the earlier mix-up, she has since shared a new Instagram story dedicated to Asha Bhosle.
Bhosle, 92, died on Sunday, April 12 in Mumbai. Bhosle had been admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday evening. Her death was also confirmed by Dr Pratit Samdani of Breach Candy Hospital.
Several Indian film celebrities paid tribute to the legendary singer on social media, following her death.
