Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is back with a "dhamakedar" post-climax cameo. Earlier this year, he appeared as Chulbul Pandey in Singham Again, announcing the reunion of Chulbul and Bajirao Singham. Now, the actor has featured in a special sequence in Baby John.
In the film, Salman plays Agent Bhai Jaan, who teams up with Varun Dhawan's character Baby John in the post-climax scene. Wamiqa Gabbi and Rajpal Yadav also feature in the sequence, where the team dismantles a human trafficking ring. Salman delivers action-packed punches and kicks during his brief screen time. His chemistry with Varun Dhawan shines through as the two engage in playful banter, even listing Indian festivals together. Salman’s character also flirts with Wamiqa’s character, calling her “baby,” adding a touch of humour.
Although the cameo is short, it gives fans a memorable moment to cherish as they leave the cinema halls.
Earlier, in an interview with Pinkvilla, filmmaker Atlee, who is presenting the film, discussed how Salman’s cameo came to fruition.
“It was just an initial discussion between me and Murad (Khetani) sir. I told him, ‘Sir, towards the end, I need a cameo... should we ask Salman sir?’ He said, ‘Okay.’ The next day, he calls me in the morning and says, ‘Salman has agreed to do a cameo.’ I was shocked. I was like, ‘I was just discussing this with you; I don’t even have a scene prepared. Let me work on it,’” Atlee shared.
Producer Murad Khetani revealed that Salman Khan did not need convincing for the cameo. As soon as the scene was pitched, the superstar agreed, asking them to let him know when to shoot.
Atlee also recounted how punctual Salman was on set. "Despite all of that, I was twenty minutes late. Not that I was tardy, but Salman sir arrived before time. He was asked to reach the set by 1, but he was there by 12:30. We all reached exactly at 1, and we saw him sitting like a lion and waiting for us. I went and said, ‘Hi,’ and he replied with a ‘Hi.’”
Calling Salman “extremely fun-loving,” Atlee praised the actor’s professionalism. He added that Salman trusted their vision and didn’t even discuss the scene. “We captured great action; we got a good five-minute mass scene. You can call it a seetimaar scene.”
Released on Christmas, Baby John also stars Keerthy Suresh and Jackie Shroff.
