After more than a decade of anticipation, Grand Theft Auto 6 is moving from trailers and teasers to something fans can finally put money down on. Rockstar Games has announced that pre-orders for GTA 6 will open on June 25, giving players their first opportunity to reserve a copy before the game's scheduled release on November 19.
The announcement comes with the unveiling of the game's official cover art and a visible change across Rockstar's online platforms, where GTA 6-themed visuals have replaced the company's long-standing branding. Together, the developments arrive at a time when many fans are still wondering whether the highly anticipated title will meet its planned launch date.
GTA 6 has already faced delays during development, making every update closely watched by the gaming community. This latest announcement, however, is one of the biggest steps Rockstar has taken since revealing the game.
Rockstar to finally begin taking pre-orders for GTA 6
For many players, June 25 is the date they have been waiting for. While Rockstar has released trailers and shared details about the game over the past few years, pre-orders bring GTA 6 much closer to launch than previous updates.
The company confirmed that pre-orders will be available through digital storefronts, including the PlayStation Store, as well as selected retail channels.
Rockstar also released a short teaser featuring the game's official cover artwork. The image puts protagonists Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval front and centre while offering a glimpse of the crime-filled world players will explore later this year.
The artwork is packed with details from Leonida, Rockstar's fictional state inspired by Florida. Fast cars, helicopters, boats, flamingos and even an alligator make an appearance. Several supporting characters can also be seen, giving fans fresh clues about the people who may play important roles in the story.
The visual style leans heavily into the bright colours and tropical atmosphere associated with Vice City, one of the most popular locations in the GTA franchise.
November launch date is confirmed for GTA 6
The pre-order announcement has also renewed discussion around GTA 6's November 19 release date.
Alongside the cover art reveal, Rockstar updated profile images and banners across its social media accounts with GTA 6-inspired artwork. The company rarely makes such widespread changes unless a major release campaign is underway, leading many fans to believe preparations for launch are accelerating.
Further confidence came from Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick, who recently addressed concerns about another delay. During a TikTok interview for The School of Hard Knocks, Zelnick said GTA 6 remains on track for its November 19 release date, according to a report from CBR.com.
If the game arrives as planned, it will end one of the longest waits in modern gaming. GTA 5 launched in 2013 and went on to become one of the best-selling video games ever made, creating enormous expectations for its successor.
Despite the new details, Rockstar is still keeping one important piece of information under wraps. The company has not announced how much GTA 6 will cost. People remain divided, with some expecting a standard premium game price while others believe Rockstar could push beyond current pricing norms. If rumours are to be believed, the game could cost anywhere between $70 and $100.
