Veteran poet, writer, filmmaker and former parliamentarian Pritish Nandy died on Wednesday at 73. His son, Kushan Nandy, confirmed the news of his death to India Today. Several celebrities, including Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Ranvir Shorey, Sudhir Mishra and Neil Nitin Mukesh, among others, expressed condolences via social media.
Actor Anil Kapoor expressed his "shock" upon learning the tragic news. Sharing a picture of Nandy on X, Kapoor wrote, "Shocked and heartbroken by the loss of my dear friend Pritish Nandy. A fearless editor, a brave soul, and a man of his word, he embodied integrity like no other (sic)."
Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh paid his last respects to the late filmmaker and wrote on X: "Deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Mr. Pritish Nandy. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones. May his memory be a blessing and may you find strength in this difficult time. Rest in peace, sir (sic)."
Actor Ranvir Shorey, who was last seen in Bigg Boss OTT, wrote, "Shocked and saddened to hear of @PritishNandy Sir’s demise! He was a maverick and wore his many hats with Elan! He put so many talented people on the map in the movie business! Thank you, and farewell, Sir! RIP. #respect (sic)."
Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra remembered Pritish Nandy and shared an emotional post on X. It read, "What can one say about Pritish Nandy? One could say that he lived well, loved well, fought well, didn’t suffer fools, had a sharp, biting sense of humour like no other. After the joke landed, after the laughter came the silence when you understood that he had just given you a life lesson (sic)."
Sophie Choudary wrote, "Rest in peace @PritishNandy. Was a privilege getting to know you during Pyar ke side effects. Brave, provocative, unique as a filmmaker & journalist/editor. Shall always think of you warmly. Sending love and prayers to the family #pritishnandy (sic)."
