Actor Ayushmann Khurrana is all set to portray the new 'Prem' in filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya's next family romantic saga. According to reports, the actor is impressed with the film's script and is eager to collaborate with Barjatya, known for delivering iconic family dramas like Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Hum Saath Saath Hain, among others.

As reported by Pinkvilla, Barjatya, who previously cast Salman Khan, Shahid Kapoor, and Sonu Sood as the virtuous Prem in his films, was on the lookout for a new face for his upcoming family drama. Seeking someone with a strong appeal among family audiences, he decided on Ayushmann Khurrana for the role.

A source close to the project shared, "Sooraj ji was looking to cast someone who has an image that resonates with family audiences, and who better than Ayushmann Khurrana to play the new-age Prem on the big screen. The duo has bonded well, and Ayushmann loved the world that Sooraj Barjatya is creating with his next."

The source further added, "Sooraj ji feels Ayushmann has the innocence and charm to embody Prem perfectly."

According to the report, Sooraj Barjatya is yet to finalise the female lead for the film, after which he will focus on assembling the rest of the cast. The untitled project is expected to commence shooting in the summer of 2025.

Meanwhile, Ayushmann Khurrana has also joined producer Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe with a 'bloody' love story titled Thama. The actor plays a vampire in the film.
