Karuppu gets CM Vijay's wishes after Suriya-Trisha film's strong box office start

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay wished the makers of Suriya and Trisha Krishnan-starrer Karuppu on the film's success. The team shared a photograph on its official page and said the Chief Minister had conveyed his wishes to producer SR Prabu for the film's grand success. According to the production house, Karuppu collected Rs 147 crore in its opening weekend.

Team shares Chief Minister's message

In its post, the team wrote, "We are overjoyed to share that our Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. Joseph Vijay, has extended his heartfelt wishes and congratulations to our producer @prabhu_sr for the grand success of THE ONE @Suriya_offl's #Karuppu. It is truly wonderful and heartwarming for our entire team to receive his wishes (sic)."

Meeting with Chief Minister

SR Prabu, one of the producers of Karuppu, met Chief Minister Vijay along with the office-bearers of the Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA). The delegation included president TG Thyagarajan, general secretary T Siva, treasurer G Dhananjayan, vice-presidents SR Prabu and SS Lalit Kumar, and joint secretaries Mukesh R Mehta and S Vinoth Kumar.

During the meeting, the office-bearers presented a bank draft of Rs 10 lakh towards the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund. It was during this meeting that Vijay personally conveyed his wishes to SR Prabu about Karuppu.

The Chief Minister's wishes drew added interest among fans because of Vijay's long-standing bond with Trisha Krishnan, who stars opposite Suriya in Karuppu. Trisha had earlier attended Vijay's oath-taking ceremony, which was widely discussed among fans.

About Karuppu

Karuppu features Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, with Yogi Babu, Jaffer Sadiq, Mansoor Ali Khan and Indrans in supporting roles. The film has music by Sai Abhyankkar, cinematography by GK Vishnu and stunt choreography by Anbariv.

The film was scheduled to release in theatres on May 14. However, it was pushed by a day after financial issues led to cancelled shows.
