  • He said he was thrilled about both films releasing on Diwali
  • The director also clarified the misinterpretation of his statement by media

Director Anees Bazmee on Thursday released an official statement communicating his stance on the box office clash between his film, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and Singham Again. Both the films are scheduled to hit the screens as the big Diwali releases this year. However, speculations have been rife that the team of the Kartik Aaryan-led horror-comedy reached out to director Rohit Shetty to think about postponing the cop drama.

In a statement released on Instagram, Bazmee, known for directing many successful films in the comedy genre, said he is "thrilled" about the clash and is looking forward to both the films doing a fabulous business at the box office. He added that as a director, he does not let the chatter around business come in the way of creativity.

Anees Bazmee wrote, "Some media personnel are misinterpreting my statement. As a filmmaker with over three decades of experience, I focus on crafting compelling stories, not getting entangled in film release/ business dynamics. I've seen many films succeed despite releasing on the same day (sic)."

He added, "Seems like my words were lost in translation! Let me rephrase: I am thrilled for both Singham 3 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Two amazing films, two talented teams. Let's do it together (sic)."

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is a part of an anticipated franchise, especially after the mega success of horror comedies like Stree 2 and Munjya earlier this year. The film is backed by a solid cast including Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjai Mishra, Triptii Dimri and Rajpal Yadav, among others. The case is the same with Singham Again, which is also a part of a popular franchise and boasts a stunning starcast.

Apart from having Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead, the film has special appearances by Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer SIngh and Tiger Shroff, who have joined Shetty's cop-verse recently.

Diwali, which is one of the biggest Hindu festivals, gives filmmakers a grand window to celebrate cinema. The makers of both Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 want to cash in on the family time during the festivities. The clash is on for now, it seems!
