Vikrant Massey and Rani Mukherjee nominated for 71st National film awards! Here’s what we know

With the 71st National Film Awards expected to be announced soon, reports suggest that Vikrant Massey may win the Best Actor award for his role in ‘12th Fail’ while Rani Mukherji is in strong contention for Best Actress for her role in ‘Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway’.

’12th Fail’, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra was based on the real life journey of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who rose from extreme poverty to become an IPS officer starring Vikrant Massey in the lead role. The film was appreciated and this was another fur in the cap of Vikrant Massey.

‘Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway’, directed by Ashima Chibber was inspired by the real-life story of Sagarika Chakraborty, an Indian mother whose children were taken away by Norwegian child welfare authorities because of cultural differences and misunderstanding.

Reports also mention that two other leading actresses from the South Indian Cinema are in contention for the Best Actress award.

Meanwhile, ‘Rocky and Rani kii Prem Kahani’ directed by Karan Johar, is expected to win Best Film for delivering wholesome entertainment.

Though these updates are yet to officially confirmed, fans are eagerly waiting for Vikant to win the award. The actor was often seen sharing his dream of winning a National award.

Further, Vikrant will next be seen in ‘White’, where he plays Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Rani, on the other hand, is working on ‘Mardaani 3’ and is also reportedly a part of Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘King’.
