Bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna, who is currently basking in the success of “Dhurandhar”, will not be returning for the fourth edition of the “Race” movie franchise, as clarified by producer Ramesh Taurani.

Eliminating all the speculations, producer Ramesh Taurani clarified that Akshaye Khanna won’t be a part of “Race 4.”The movie is currently in development, although Khanna, who played a significant role in the first installment of the franchise, “Race (2008)”, has not been contacted and will not be included in the casting considerations, Taurani said.

The speculation regarding the involvement of Khanna gained momentum following his award-winning performance in “Dhurandhar” that rekindled his future projects, and fans expressed hope of his returning to the “Race” series, especially with Saif Ali Khan, who was also an original cast member. But Taurani was explicit that there was no scope to revive Khanna, noting that the character’s storyline concluded with an accident in the first film and would remain unchanged.

Taurani also touched upon rumours of other cast members, saying that there is no cast chosen yet and that the script is still being developed, leaving the rest of the lineup to be open at this point.

Having known for its high-octane thrills and ensemble casts, the “Race” franchise has evolved over the years, with different antagonists and protagonists across the sequels, and “Race 4” is no exception to the prototype of changing creative direction.
