Mumbai: Border 2, starring Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, and Varun Dhawan, has opened to a stellar start at the box office. Benefiting from the extended holiday weekend, the film sailed through the crucial Monday test, taking its domestic total earning to Rs 180 crore.

According to the reports of trade tracker Sacnilk, here is the breakdown of the numbers: Border 2 has earned Rs 59 crore on Monday, which was its highest single-day collection so far.  The collection is also being touted as one of the biggest Republic Day earnings in recent years.

The film began its run with Rs 30 crore on opening day, followed by strong consolidation on Saturday with Rs 36.5 crore. On Sunday, collections surged by 49.32 per cent, pushing the film comfortably past the Rs 100 crore mark within its opening weekend.

According to sources, Border 2 has already surpassed the opening weekend collections of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, reinforcing its blockbuster status.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, in a post shared on social media, described the film’s box office performance as a “tsunami.” He noted that while urban centres have performed exceptionally well, mass belts, particularly Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets,s have gone a step further, with house full shows returning across multiple circuits. Adarsh also emphasised that online criticism and social media chatter have had no impact on the film’s commercial performance.

Echoing this sentiment, filmmaker Karan Johar reportedly shared on his Instagram Stories that “Bollywood is back,” reacting to the back-to-back box office successes of Dhurandhar and Border 2.
