Grand Theft Auto 6 opens pre-orders, reveals cover art

by · Boing Boing

If at any point you've ever doubted that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be the biggest entertainment product since the Epic of Gilgamesh, look no further than this: a thirty-second video showing off the game's cover art and absolutely nothing else has amassed about seven and a half million views in less than 24 hours.

The people are hungry for crumbs of info about this game, and Rockstar is feeding them just that: crumbs. That said, the cover art is still pretty cool. Stephen Bliss, the artist responsible for defining much of Rockstar's visual identity, may be gone, but his mysterious replacement is doing a pretty damn good job too.

I'm just glad to see the helicopter-in-top-left-corner tradition is still alive. I'm also glad to see rumors put to rest as Rockstar confirms the pre-order date for June 25th, a week out at time of writing. Opening up pre-orders without showing any actual gameplay is a bold move, but we all know that day is going to break records regardless.
