Trailer for Stranger Things' final episode
by Rob Beschizza · Boing BoingAfter 5 seasons and about 50 hours of television, Stranger Things ends this week. Netflix dropped the trailer for the finale: "I need you to fight, one last time."
As Vecna prepares to destroy the world as we know it, the party must put everything on the line to defeat him once and for all.
My favorite thing about Stranger Things is that the depiction of 1980s stuff is lived-in. You see people complaining on the internet that they get things "wrong," but then others respond showing real photos of real people from the era that look very much like characters from the show. Of course it's still the 1970s in rural Indiana ten years later! As if poor kids in a run-down nowhere town would have Nintendo Entertainment Systems, $400 or so in today's money, the year they were launched. On the other hand, the show's most famous retro moment, with two kids singing Limahl and Giorgio Moroder's Neverending Story, is maybe a good example of idealized "contemporary" retro: neither the movie nor the song were big hits in the U.S.
