Based on the Homeric myth of Odysseus, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is his first movie since 2023's Oppenheimer and will arrive in theaters July 17, 2026. Here's the trailer.

The Odyssey stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson and Lupita Nyong'o, with Zendaya and Charlize Theron.

It looks to be a straightfoward retelling of the tale, in which the king of Ithaca makes his way home after the Trojan War only to be forced off-course into various dangerous misadventures. The Nolan noir vibe is there; the oddest thing about it is that rubbery armor, which gives it a hint of science fiction. People will joke about The Dark Night going home, but here's what "Futuristic Odysseus" makes me think of:
