Black Flag Resynced producer has to clarify: yes, there will be blood

Yesterday's reveal of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag: Resynced (holy colons) got a lot of people, myself included, about this upcoming remake of the best game in the Assassin's Creed series. Despite all the gorgeous gameplay we were treated to, there was one glaring omission that I only really noticed when it was pointed out after the fact: there's no blood!

No, seriously. Go back and watch any of the trailers. Ubisoft is happy to show you Edward Kenway slashing through scores of guards, but there's not a single drop of blood actually spilled. This immediately ignited intense speculation on the game's potential censorship — perceived censorship being a bit of a hot-button issue among gamers at the moment, mostly stemming from people who really wanted to see the 7-year-old android's panties in Pragmata.

Putting capital-G Gamers' tendency to get mad for the absolute worst reasons aside, however, it was a little weird to see a game with Assassin in the title tone down the blood so much. It got to the point where producer Justin Ng had to address the extremely strange controversy on Twitter, promising there would be blood in the final game.

It's likely that the effects were just disabled so the broadcast could be, well, broadcast worldwide without making changes to suit every country's censorship laws. Personally, I'm just happy that the ridiculous explosion VFX in sword fights are also being toned down according to Ng — it was more goofy than badass.
