Elden Ring: Nightreign unveils DLC featuring plenty of Dark Souls nostalgia
by Grant St. Clair · Boing BoingAs I discussed in my review of Elden Ring: Nightreign, this game breaks many From Software traditions, and not always to its benefit. The combination of a strict time limit, roguelite structure, and an emphasis on first-time perfection over trial and error sets it apart from its fellows. Still, it appears to be sticking to one tradition: releasing post-launch DLC that's better than the game itself.
Nightreign's first expansion, Forsaken Hollows, arrives early this December, adding two new interesting-looking characters, new bosses, and a much-needed map change.
And yes, one of those new bosses does appear to be Artorias from the first Dark Souls. Exciting callback or cynical nostalgia mining? You decide!
