In a first, tanks, artillery guns inducted into Kashmir by ‘Military special train’

Jammu, Dec 17: In a first and that too coinciding with its ‘Vijay Diwas’ celebrations, the Indian Army inducted tanks and artillery guns into the Kashmir valley by a ‘Military special train’ on December 16.

Describing it as its “major logistics milestone”, the Army asserted that the validation exercise demonstrated its enhanced mobility and logistical capability. Besides it also delineated how the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project had brought a transformation in rapid logistics build-up and strengthening operational readiness along the Northern borders.

As a part of this exercise aiming at bolstering logistics capability, tanks, artillery guns and dozers were moved from the Jammu region to Anantnag in Kashmir.

Indian Army shared this achievement with a post on its social media handle ‘X’ with a tagline “Enhancing capabilities along the borders” and stated that the milestone was achieved in close coordination with the Railway Ministry.

“The Indian army achieved a major logistics milestone on 16 December 2025 with the induction of tanks and artillery guns into the Kashmir Valley by a Military Special Train. As part of the validation exercise, tanks, artillery guns and dozers were successfully moved from the Jammu region to Anantnag, Kashmir demonstrating enhanced mobility and logistical capability.” ADG-PI of Indian Army posted on ‘X’, with a collage of pictures of a train passing through the iconic Chenab bridge and other locations on its way to the Valley.
