J&K’s handicrafts and folk dances to feature in Republic Day 2026 tableau

New Delhi, Jan 22: As many as 30 tableaux, 17 from States and Union Territories and 13 from central ministries and departments, will roll down Kartavya Path during the 77th Republic Day Parade in New Delhi on January 26, 2026. Set against the overarching themes “Swatantrata ka Mantra: Vande Mataram” and “Samriddhi ka Mantra: Aatmanirbhar Bharat”, the tableaux will celebrate 150 years of Vande Mataram alongside India’s journey towards self-reliance and prosperity, reflected through its cultural diversity and developmental achievements. The Jammu & Kashmir tableau will spotlight the region’s rich heritage by showcasing its traditional handicrafts and vibrant folk dances, underlining the Union Territory’s cultural identity and artistic legacy on the national stage.

The parade will also feature tableaux from other states, Union Territories and ministries, highlighting themes ranging from freedom, self-reliance and innovation to heritage, defence preparedness and inclusive development.
