Rihanna rumoured to headline Glastonbury Festival

Rumours that singer Rihanna may headline Glastonbury have been sparked after it was reported that the star may be planning a London Stadium residency in the days after the festival.

The Telegraph reported that the Diamonds singer might be planning a six-night residency at the London Stadium days after Glastonbury Festival wraps. The Telegraph reported that a senior concert industry source said Rihanna's promoters are 'holding' the stadium and the shows are at an advanced planning stage.

Glastonbury Festival organisers have confirmed that Neil Young will headline this year. Rod Stewart has also been confirmed in the festival’s Sunday afternoon Legends slot, but other acts have yet to be revealed.

Rihanna has never played at Worthy Farm and has not been on tour since 2016. The singer has been on a hiatus from the music industry and has not released new music since.

She joked during an interview that she was making fans wait for her ninth album as she was “rediscovering things” and was “prepared to go back in the studio”.

However, Rihanna, who launched her beauty brand, Fenty, in 2017 has more recently suggested she may never return to music. In November, she said: “Music was the thing that got the attention, but God had other plans for me."

Despite her break from releasing new music, the singer performed at the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show. She also performed a ballad at the 2023 Oscars.
