Strictly's Fleur East admits keeping 'very naughty' secret from BBC bosses during filming

TV host Fleur East recently shared that she kept her pregnancy a secret during her time on Strictly Come Dancing, confessing she was "very naughty" for doing so.

The 37-year-old, who returned to present Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two last year, opted not to disclose her pregnancy as she preferred not to be treated differently.

While chatting on Giovanna Fletcher's Happy Mum Happy Baby Podcast, the ex-X Factor contestant recalled getting a telling-off from show bosses after they learned of her situation.

She remarked: "I didn't tell anyone at Strictly which probably wasn't the best thing. My management knew and my family knew but nobody at Strictly knew.

"After it came out, I remember speaking to the exec Alex and she said to me 'Fleur, that was very naughty of you, we could have looked after you if you told us. So, in future, I don't know if there's going to be another baby, but please let us know because we like to look after you'," reports Lancs Live.

In March, the singer disclosed that she and husband Marcel Badiane-Robin were delighted to welcome their daughter on March 22. Fleur took to Instagram to post two photos along with a video showing her cradling baby Nova in a carrier.

In 2023, she replaced Rylan Clark as host of the show’s spin-off series, It Takes Two, which she presented alongside co-host, Janette Manrara.

Fleur opened up on the podcast about discovering her pregnancy just as she was starting her new role, and she shared her strategy for keeping it under wraps from the higher-ups.

She recounted: "Very big suits. A lot of people started to clock on though, a few people were messaging me going 'your suits are getting really big, you must be pregnant'.

"People close to me were clueing in," she said. "Family members were texting my sister, bless her, 'Is Fleur pregnant?' and she didn't want to lie.

"I felt really exposed," she admitted. "I just felt very vulnerable and I think because I knew I was going to be on TV for three months while I was pregnant, and my first pregnancy, I didn't really like the idea of having all the attention on me while I was pregnant."

East tied the knot with stylist and designer Badiane-Robin in June 2019, and they celebrated their nuptials amidst Morocco's stunning Atlas mountain scenery.

The star-studded guest list at their wedding included Harry Redknapp, 2018 I'm A Celebrity winner along with his wife Sandra, television presenter AJ Odudu, and The Only Way Is Essex star Vas J Morgan.
