Disney+ announce new Caroline Flack documentary five years after her tragic death
by Danni King · BristolLiveDisney+ has announced they are making a new documentary film about the late television host Caroline Flack. The full-length feature is in development by Disney+ along with Curious Films, and is produced by the same team behind the 2021 documentary, Caroline Flack: Her Life and Death.
Set to delve into the life of Love Island host Caroline through her mother Christine's perspective, the documentary aims to throw light on her illustrious career as well as unearth details concerning her untimely passing. Caroline, who was just 40 years old at the time of her death, tragically passed away in February 2020.
Contributions from Caroline's close confidants and relatives will be included as the programme sets out to uncover the facts that led to Caroline's decision to end her life. The release of the documentary is set for 2025, reports the Mirror.
Christine expressed her unresolved feelings about her daughter's final months, saying: "I still have so many questions about what happened to Caroline in her final months, and it's something I feel deeply compelled to explore, even though I know it will be challenging."
She added: "I'm pleased to be working with the team at Curious Films once again, in the hope of bringing clarity and understanding to Carrie's story not just for her, but for everyone who cared about her."
Dov Freedman, Executive Producer at Curious Films, reflected on the necessity to revisit the story: "It's not often that you feel the need to return to a subject, but nearly five years after Caroline's tragic death, we know there are still many unanswered questions for Christine and her family that need to be addressed."
"We're proud to be collaborating with the Flack family once again, working together to seek some form of resolution to the tragic events surrounding Caroline's death."
Gaby Aung, Senior Manager of Unscripted content at Disney+, said: "We're privileged to be working with Christine Flack and our production partners at Curious, as we follow a family's pursuit for answers and celebrate Caroline's legacy five years on from her tragic death."
With executive producers Dov Freedman, Charlie Russell, and Jessie Versluys steering the helm for Curious Films, and under the direction of Christian Collerton with Sophie Clayton-Payne producing, the documentary is taking shape.
The commissioning of the documentary by Sean Doyle, Executive Director of Unscripted, with Gaby Aung overseeing the executive production for Disney+, indicates the platform's investment in the narrative.
Caroline captured the hearts of the nation with her bubbly persona and presenting flair on multiple TV shows. Her journey to stardom accelerated as she helmed spin-off programs such as I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! NOW! and The Xtra Factor, paving her way to eventually host ITV2's hit show Love Island.
