Bradley Walsh 'virtually lives' at ITV studios with punishing schedule for The Chase
by Robin Cottle · BristolLiveBradley Walsh, host of The Chase, recently divulged that he spends so much time at ITV studios, it's almost like a second home due to the demanding filming schedule. The 64 year old TV personality has been at the helm of the beloved trivia show since it debuted in 2009, alongside a team of professional quizzers which includes Paul Sinha, Anne Hegerty, Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Jenny Ryan, and Darragh Ennis, who face off against contestants.
The Chase has churned out over 1,000 episodes, and Walsh shared details about the gruelling production routine that occasionally results in him staying overnight at ITV's Elstree Studios.
During an appearance on Laura Hamilton's The Mile High podcast, Walsh revealed: “You've come to the studios. I virtually live here now.
"I virtually live at the studios, I have a constant room here. ” He went on to discuss his hectic daily agenda: “This is where I work from. We make three (shows) a day. So we started at 10," reports the Liverpool Echo.
"Today we started at 9.50 and we were done by 4.30, making sure we had a very short turnaround so we could get this in."
The television star also mentioned his post-work routine: “Once I've finished this now, I've then got to go next door for a Zoom with some people in Japan and some people in London.
"It's a bit full on, but it's alright because tonight I'll have a drink and watch a bit of TV and I haven't got to get up in the morning. I can have a lie in."
Alongside his presenting duties on The Chase, Walsh is also recognised for his acting roles, including stints on Coronation Street and Doctor Who, but it is his role on The Chase for which he remains widely acknowledged. .
Bradley Walsh confessed that even he was caught off guard by The Chase's enduring popularity. Initially, he thought the game show would have a relatively short lifespan of "two or three years", but it has now marked 15 years since its debut.
He reflected: "I used to make nothing but pilot shows that never got a second chance.
"I saw the potential in the Chase 15 years ago and that was it. I thought: 'This will run maybe two or three years and that will be fine. I didn't know it was going to be a phenomenon and spin off, so it's been great."
The Chase is next on air this evening at 5pm on ITV.
