Gogglebox viewers 'turn off' Channel 4 show after 'disturbing' scene

The Gogglebox families have returned for more heartwarming TV discussions, but neither the families on the show nor the viewers at home were ready for what was shown on their screens tonight. Gladiators, The Apprentice, Celebrity Bear Hunt and The Fear Clinic: Face Your Phobia were among the series enjoyed by our favourite Goggleboxers.

But it was a scene from the new season of The White Lotus, which premiered on Sky on Monday, that elicited the most significant response. The White Lotus has become notorious for its risqué scenes and shocking moments in its first two seasons, set in Hawaii and Sicily, and the new season is continuing this trend, reports the Mirror.

The third season of the mystery drama began with a fresh cast of characters arriving at a new White Lotus resort, this time in stunning Thailand. Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins portray age gap couple Chelsea and Rick, Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon and Michelle Monaghan play three longtime friends on a girls' trip, and season one fan favourite Natasha Rothwell, who plays Belinda, is also a guest.

However, it's the family led by Jason Isaacs and Parker Posey, as Timothy and Victoria, that has caused the biggest stir due to the unfolding storyline between their adult children, played by Sarah Catherine Hook, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola.

The first episode of the series featured a scene between brothers Saxon and Lochlan that has been stirring up quite the conversation online, and now it's the turn of the Gogglebox families to witness it. In the controversial scene, Saxon (played by Schwarzenegger) quizzes his younger brother about his porn preferences before striding naked to the bathroom for some private time, with his full frontal nudity reflected in the mirror.

Although Gogglebox viewers were spared the full reveal, the show's families saw everything, prompting shocked reactions our Gogglebox stars.

"So far, so pervy, Mary," Giles quipped to his wife Mary, both taken aback, while Jake assured his twin Harry, "I have never done this by the way! " referring to Saxon's reason for retreating to the bathroom.

Pete shared some hotel wisdom with sister Sophie, saying, "Something happens to people when they stop in hotels," and revealing his own method of coping with noisy nights: "it doesn't matter if it is a budget one or an expensive one, there has been many a night when I have heard it through the walls. I put two shortbreads in my ears! ".

One amused viewer took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their takeaway: "Now we know what to do with the complimentary shortbread biscuits in hotels, thanks Pete and Sophie,".

"Gogglebox so far so pervy lol he's right there," concurred another fan, while a third commented: "#Gogglebox has just made me put a line through watching the white lotus. Too weird and disturbing. No thanks! " One viewer was so affected by the footage that they switched off Gogglebox altogether: "Why does #Gogglebox always end with the weird stuff. Turned off for the last five minutes. White lotus is a no-go for me, sorry."
