Silent Hill f's new trailer is here, bringing with it confirmation that the Japan-set entry into the legendary franchise is coming to Xbox Series X|S. That will make it the first game from Konami's horror series on Xbox in 13 years! Exciting times.

Silent Hill f is the first Xbox series entry since 2012

  • Silent Hill f is the latest entry into Konami's legendary horror franchise
  • Originally announced in 2022, the latest trailer reveals more about the 1960s Japan setting
  • It's coming to Xbox Series X|S at an undisclosed date

Notably absent from our list of the best horror games on Xbox is the lastest remake of Silent Hill 2 because it was a PS5 console exclusive. Our list is set to change if the latest entry into the franchise, Silent Hill f, can deliver on the promise of the new trailer! Set in Japan in the 1960s, will you "Find the Beauty in Terror?"

So, as for hard details, Silent Hill F will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. However, Konami still hasn't even given us a release window. Instead, this trailer is about giving us a taste of its unique (and gorgeous-looking) setting alongside some very unsettling body-horror imagery.

You'll be playing as Hinako Shimizu in a town called Ebisugaoka. When the fog rolls in, you can guess what happens next — terrifying monsters and puzzles to solve! There is some really interesting talent behind this entry, particularly author Ryukishi07, who constructed the world.

This is the first entry into the franchise on Xbox since 2012's Silent Hill: HD Collection, which collects both Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 into one package. It's still well worth playing if you want a taste of the series at its best with achievements, even if it isn't a perfect version of those games. It is a real shame that last year's acclaimed remake of the aforementioned second game isn't on Xbox.

I'm hoping that 'f' delivers the Silent Hill we've been waiting for — it certainly looks promising from the trailer. That floral red ambiance creates a great atmosphere and I love the idea of bringing the series to 1960s Japan. Delivering on that promise is all-important, though.

Silent Hill f new trailer

Only the Silent Hill 2 remake has delivered the goods after Hideo Kojima gave us P.T. on PS4 in 2014 (if that counts!), so there are years of absence to make up for! Games like 2012's Downpour, 2023's Ascension on ioS, and 2024's PS5-only The Short Message were all pretty bad.

In any case, let's see what Konami is capable of and if it can join fellow horror series Resident Evil amongst the best Xbox games! Did this trailer get you going? Let me know in the comments below, TrueAchievements community!
