Ubisoft responds to major Assassin's Creed Shadows leak

Some players have already received copies of Assassin's Creed Shadows almost a month early, and Ubisoft is asking leakers not to spoil the game.

Despite receiving two delays, Assassin's Creed Shadows has been delivered to some players almost a month early. Ubisoft has issued a statement, asking players collecting the Assassin's Creed Shadows achievements early to not share any spoilers about the upcoming open-world Xbox game, as it "does not represent the final quality of the game."

Earlier this week, a month before Assassin's Creed Shadows launches on March 20, reports surfaced that multiple auction sites in the US were already selling physical copies of the upcoming game. Several players have also been streaming the game on Twitch and sharing images online.

Although it's unclear why some physical copies have already landed in players' hands, Ubisoft has issued a statement, urging anyone already playing Assassin's Creed Shadows not to share any information online.

“We are aware players have accessed Assassin’s Creed Shadows ahead of its official release,” Ubisoft shared on X. “The development team is still working on patches to prepare the experience for launch and any footage shared online does not represent the final quality of the game.

“Leaks are unfortunate and can diminish the excitement for players. We kindly ask you not to spoil the experience for others. Thank you to our community for already taking steps to protect everyone from spoilers. Stay in the shadows, avoid the spoilers, and keep an eye on our channel for more official surprises in the coming weeks! March 20 will be here soon!”

Assassin's Creed Shadows has met a slew of complications during its development, including two delays. It was originally down to launch on November 15, 2024, but was pushed back to February 14, 2025. Ubisoft then delayed it a second time to respond to feedback from the community, settling on a March 20, 2025 release date.

The game's Claws of Awaji DLC was also leaked last month via the Assassin's Creed Shadows Steam page, revealing that the expansion will see you "Travel to a new region, get over 10 hours of additional content, and unlock a new weapon type, new skills, gear, and abilities."
