Sony has unveiled the next installment in the MLB The Show series. Surprisingly, MLB The Show 25 will not join Xbox Game Pass, at least not at launch.

Since making its way over to Xbox, every entry into the MLB The Show series has launched into Xbox Game Pass, but going forward, that's about to change. Sony has announced that MLB The Show 25 will not join Xbox Game Pass, so if you want the MLB The Show 25 achievements at launch, you're going to have to crack open your wallet for the Xbox sports game.
MLB The Show 25 won't be on subscription services in 2025, Sony says

In a PlayStation Blog post announcing the new game, Sony simply says that MLB The Show 25 "will not be on platform subscription services in 2025." It's a surprising move, considering that ever since the series came over to Xbox with MLB The Show 21, each game has joined Game Pass as a day-one title. Sony's wording here suggests we won't see MLB The Show 25 on Game Pass in 2025, so it's possible that the baseball sim could still join the service next year.
Interestingly, Sony is also forgoing a previous-gen release for the new game. MLB The Show 25 will launch on March 18, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. If you're still rocking an Xbox One, you will need to upgrade to a Series X or S to play this one.
As for what's actually new in MLB The Show 25, Sony hasn't said much outside of announcing cover athletes Paul Skenes, Elly De La Cruz, and Gunnar Henderson. A gameplay trailer and further information on the game will arrive on February 4, 2025.
