More “The Pitt” is headed our way.

Making good on a promise to get the show back on air within the year, Season 2 of HBO’s Emmy-winning medical drama “The Pitt” will premiere on January 8, 2026 — hurtling fans back into the chaotic world of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center and the internal struggles of its dedicated leader, Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch (Noah Wyle).

Season 1 of the Emmy-winning series from “ER” alums John Wells and R. Scott Gemmill, nominated for two 2026 Golden Globes and three Critics Choice Awards, ended with a devastating hour that saw the fictional trauma center, known as “the Pitt,” flooded with victims of a mass shooting. After an unrelenting season, during which each episode represented one segment of a single 15-hour shift, the finale didn’t shortchange on the adrenaline.

HBO on Tuesday released the trailer for Season 2, which sees Dr. Robby preparing to go on sabbatical. The trailer opens with a quick mashup of trauma cases and Dr. Robby walking into the Pitt for another 15-hour shift, appropriately sighing, “And so, it begins.” It also reveals that the center’s charge nurse, Dana (Katherine LaNasa), is back to make sure things run smoothly after she considered calling it quits last season, and that Dr. Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball) is also reentering the mix after abandoning his favored, senior resident position for rehab in Season 1.

What specific crises await this time around are still anyone’s guess, as the rest of the two-minute snippet only briefly teases brewing tension between Dr. Robby and his replacement, Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi), a number of newly admitted patients suffering from a variety of wounds, and a hacking situation. Given that the season is set on the Fourth of July, though, there are sure to be some very American-centric problems to overcome.

The 15 episodes of Season 2 of “The Pitt” will air weekly on HBO Max, beginning with the premiere episode on January 8. The season will also star returning cast members Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, and Shabana Azeez, who will be joined by a handful of new faces.
