‘The Morning Show’ to End with Season 5 in 2027

The final season will see series newcomers Jeff Daniels, Reneé Rapp, and Sean Hayes join the cast.

The end of an era is looming at Apple TV. The tech giant’s streaming service has announced that “The Morning Show,” its first foray into scripted television, will end with the upcoming Season 5. The announcement was accompanied by first look images from the final season, which is set to air in 2027.

“The Morning Show” debuted in 2019 and was an immediate hit for Apple, thanks in no small part to the combined star power of Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston, the latter of whom was taking on her first series regular role since “Friends.” Loosely based on Brian Stelter’s book “Top of the Morning,” the dramedy followed the inner workings of a fictional morning news show that had to navigate issues such as the #MeToo movement, racial inequality, and the tumultuous state of U.S. politics over the past decade.

The show gradually increased its star power over its run, adding Jon Hamm as billionaire Paul Marks in Season 3 and building an ensemble cast that includes Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, and Nicole Beharie. Season 5 will also feature series newcomers Jeff Daniels, Reneé Rapp, Jesse Williams, Sean Hayes, and Lizzy Caplan.

The most recent fourth season of “The Morning Show” was nominated for a single Emmy for Crudup for Supporting Actor in a Drama, who has won in the category before, and throughout the series run it has won four Emmys and been nominated for 28.

As we celebrate this final chapter, while also beginning new ones with these brilliant artists and storytellers, we’re endlessly grateful to everyone who made ‘The Morning Show’ such an enduring part of Apple TV.”
