A Harlan Coben Netflix Series Is Staying in the U.S. for a Change

One day after Netflix debuted the trailer for Coben's "Missing You," the streamer announced the greenlight for limited series "I Will Find You."

For once, a Harlan Coben Netflix series is staying in the good ol’ U-S of A.

Netflix has greenlit an eight-episode adaptation of American thriller/mystery-writer Coben’s novel “I Will Find You.” The Robert Hull-run limited series will mark Coben’s first Netflix adaptation set in the U.S. (Until now, the hallmark of the Coben/Netflix partnership was relocating his U.S.-set books to the UK for the screen.)

“I Will Find You” sees a father serving life in prison after being convicted of murdering his own son. Here’s the deal though: Dad didn’t do it, and the son may still be alive — but not of that can be proven from the inside. Yes, tonight there’s gonna be a jailbreak.

Coben will executive produce through his Final Twist Productions; John Weber also executive produces. As do Bryan Wynbrandt and Steven Lilien, who worked with Hull on NBC’s “Quantum Leap” remake.

Coben is one of the most prolific authors out there, and almost certainly Netflix’s number 1 novelist. Just yesterday, Netflix revealed the trailer for Coben’s “Missing You” series. That one debuts on January 1, 2025. Coben also has the upcoming “Caught” and “Run Away” set at Netflix, the same platform on which he’s previously placed “Stay Close,” “Safe” (outside of France) “The Stranger,” “The Innocent,” “Gone for Good,” “Hold Tight,” and “The Woods.” And we haven’t even yet mentioned “Fool Me Once,” the Coben-book adaptation that was Netflix’s most-watched series (of any language) of the first half of 2024.

The Coben business is a good business to be in.

“Harlan’s gripping stories are beloved around the world and have consistently captivated fans with their trademark twists and turns, dramatic cliffhangers, and compelling mysteries,” Peter Friedlander, Netflix VP of scripted series (U.S. & Canada), said in a statement announcing the “I Will Find You” limited series. “There is no one like Harlan and his first U.S. scripted series with Netflix will be no exception. We know he and Robby will deliver the same thrilling experience that audiences have come to expect and which sets it apart as a must-watch event.”

“I’ve been a fan of Harlan’s novels for as long as I can remember and the chance to bring this story to life with him, Jinny, Peter, and the incredible team at Netflix has been a dream come true,” Hull, the “Robby” referenced by Friedlander (Petey?), said.
