Loki Says No Compromise – Coolie Gets ‘A’ Certificate
by Article by Kumar · Gulte.comThe makers of Superstar Rajinikanth’s keenly awaited gangster drama, Coolie, shocked all Thalaivar fans on Friday evening. Dropping an update on Coolie’s censor, Sun Pictures’ official X account revealed that the film has been rated A by the CBFC.
Coolie becomes the first-ever A-rated movie in Rajinikanth’s illustrious career that spans over 5 decades. Coolie’s A certificate has ignited a mixed response on social media, with fans and netizens wondering if the film will end up entering the Rs 1,000 crore club in its full run.
With pan-India stars like Rajini, Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Shoubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, and others playing lead roles in the movie, fans and trade circles had pinned high hopes on the film, believing that the film will be the first-ever Rs 1,000 crore grosser in Tamil cinema history. Traditionally, an A-rated movie never touched the Rs 1,000 crore mark, causing doubts over Coolie’s box office prospects.
The two blood-soaked posters that were unveiled by Coolie’s makers feature Rajini and Nagarjuna in a never-before-seen raw and ruthless avatar as they hold a crowbar and a hammer, respectively, in their hands, indicating that Coolie is not for the fainthearted and family audiences.
In a recent interview, star director Lokesh Kanagaraj opened up about the Rs 1,000 crore chatter around Coolie. Lokesh said that he values the Rs 150 audiences spend to purchase the ticket for his movies more than box office collection, let alone the Rs 1,000 Cr club.
On the other hand, he already confirmed that he doesn’t compromise when it comes to violence, and Coolie is no exception.
And today’s A certification only proves that Lokesh has stood by his words. All eyes will be on Coolie’s box office performance during the Independence Day weekend.
