BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Craig Revel Horwood makes 'awkward' remark about Shayne Ward
by Victoria Johns · NottinghamshireLiveStrictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has been caught making some rather awkward remarks about Shayne Ward following the explosive results show on Sunday night. After a nail-biting dance-off with GoCompare's Wynne Evans, Craig and fellow judge Motsi Mabuse voted to save the X-Factor winner.
However, when Anton Du Beke chose Wynne, it was up to head judge Shirley Ballas to make the final call, resulting in Shayne's departure.
Craig, sharing his thoughts on Shayne and his dance partner Nancy Xu, expressed that he had high expectations for the Coronation Street actor, saying: "Shayne has turned a corner. He is shaping up to be one of the best male celebrities. He really nails his routines and has got great natural rhythm."
In his column for Best magazine, he added: "He put his heart and soul into the rhumba and that is not an easy dance - it can be awkward to do."
Shayne became the seventh celebrity to leave the BBC One dancing competition over the weekend after finding himself in the dreaded dance-off for the third time, reports the Mirror.
The results show on Sunday (November 10) saw two couples having to perform their dances once more, with Shayne and Nancy delivering their rumba to Cyndi Lauper's 'Time After Time' and Wynne alongside Katya Jones performing their American Smooth to MIKA's 'Grace Kelly'.
After their departure from the glittering studio was confirmed, Shayne and Nancy joined the Strictly spin-off It Takes Two on Monday (November 11) to talk about their journey with host Fleur East. The pair shared a poignant moment as they reflected on their experiences, with Nancy visibly moved to tears.
Shayne later expressed his gratitude towards his dance partner on social media. Posting a touching photo of him kissing Nancy's hand during their last dance, the ex-Coronation Street actor wrote: "From the moment I met you I knew this was going to be special. I'm a believer that 'everything happens for a reason'."
He continued, "This may have been our last dance together on @bbcstrictly but it's not our last dance in life. I have grown in so many ways because of your guidance...Your belief, your determination to help me let myself go. I was so grateful for the endless support day in, day out. For me I was honestly given the best partner! (Huge Love to all others partners too). This experience has been a rollercoaster of emotions.. highs lows and endless spins. And I would do it all again if you asked me."
After Shayne's exit, fans voiced their disappointment online, with some suggesting he was "robbed" and criticising judge Shirley for making the "wrong decision" in favouring Wynne over Shayne.
