Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23, 2026, featuring a Korean Peninsula campaign, new multiplayer systems, DMZ updates, and Switch 2 support.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has now been officially announced by Activision and Infinity Ward. The upcoming version of the game scheduled to be released on October 23, 2026. Modern Warfare 4 will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. This also marks the return of the series to consoles after more than a decade since its launch.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4: Campaign Takes Players to the Korean Peninsula

Modern Warfare 4 will introduce a darker and more grounded story centered on a large-scale conflict on the Korean Peninsula.

Players will experience the war through two perspectives. One follows Private Park, a young South Korean soldier fighting on the front lines as the conflict escalates. The other focuses on the legendary Captain Price, who now operates outside official channels while conducting covert missions behind enemy lines.

The campaign will feature missions across multiple global locations, including:

• Trench warfare across Korea
• SAS operations in Mumbai
• High-speed pursuits in Paris
• Urban combat missions in New York

Multiplayer Receives Major Gameplay Overhaul

One of the biggest innovations comes in the form of a brand new multiplayer technology system that’s been dubbed “Ballistic Authority.”

As reported by its developers, the technology is aimed at enhancing weapons’ accuracy and eliminating mechanics of the random spread of bullets which are commonly known as “bloom.” New movement mechanics include:

• Climbing
• Hanging from ledges
• Enhanced traversal options
• More fluid environmental navigation

The game launches with 12 core multiplayer maps alongside dedicated Gunfight and Big War experiences.

New Modes and Progression Systems

The game also features Kill Block which is a modular training ground with different setups each round and hundreds of possible strategies.

The game’s new feature of Apex Attachments provides players access to powerful modifications for their weapons once they reach certain levels of progression. Players can also choose between:

• Classic Prestige, which resets ranks for additional rewards
• Regular Prestige, which preserves loadouts while progressing

DMZ Returns With Dynamic Features

DMZ is gaining popularity again as an extraction game mode.

This variant includes dynamic weather changes, enemy patrol patterns, and battlefield evolution. The players can either go alone or with a squad to extract vital military technology from the DMZ areas.

Modern Warfare 4 has been developed using exclusive technology and will only be launched on hardware that is currently used and will not be released on PS4 or Xbox One consoles.

Currently, digital pre-orders are available, in the coming summer, Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders will become available.
