Paul Sinha, one of The Chase's elite Chasers, has raised concerns about the future of the popular quiz show, suggesting it might not survive without its charismatic host, Bradley Walsh.
Sinha, 54, better known as 'The Sinnerman' on the ITV show has witnessed the unique energy that Walsh contributes to the programme, the Express reports.
He heaped accolades on the host in an interview with Stuff, saying: "Perhaps most importantly of all, we never forget that it is an entertainment show and to that end we are blessed with Bradley Walsh, one of the brightest stars of the light entertainment firmament."
He further commented: "I think there are some shows that can't survive without that particular host, Should Bradley Walsh, as he will do eventually, decide that his acting career comes first, The Chase won't survive."
His comments come as Walsh has announced he will host an all-new programme called Bradley Walsh: Egypt's Cosmic Code, assuring fans that they will witness a side of him they've "never seen before".
His fresh journey will see him uncovering the wonders of Ancient Egypt. In an teaser clip, he shared his enduring passion for Egypt, saying: "I've had a fascination with Egypt and the pyramids for a very, very long time. It's an anomaly, an absolute cornucopia of ideas and fantasies."
With news of his latest television project surfacing, speculation has been rife about whether this might signal the end of his run on The Chase as retirement looms.
Sinha, who combines his quizzing prowess with a sharp sense of humour, also recounted some amusing off-camera incidents, including a memorable answer from a contestant, the Express reports.
He recalled: "My favourite was the woman who, when asked, 'Which former Prime Minister had the middle name Hilda? ' answered, without hesitation, 'John Prescott'."
He recalled how the laughter lasted for hours, although the correct response was, infamously, Margaret Thatcher.
Despite being in the limelight, Sinha, who also has a background in medicine, remains thoughtful and down-to-earth regarding his fame. While reflecting on his status at the Edinburgh Festival during his show Postcards From The Z List, he shared personal stories and insights.
The minor celeb shared his grounded perspective: "Much of it was about the reality of being an exceptionally minor celebrity. Whenever I am tempted to get stressed out about the spotlight, I remind myself that one day I will be long forgotten and that I will miss it."
Sinha, off-camera, indulges in his love for comedy and describes The Chasers' unique "war dance," which reflects their collective morale.
He said: "Naturally, I choreographed it, and it is West Side Story meets University Challenge. At the beginning of every day's recording, we perform it with gusto. It is the most joyous 28 minutes of the working day," he shared expressing his dedication.
Ensuring fans of his commitment to the television show, he said: "Oh, I love it here. I cannot lie, this is the dream job. As long as the producers will have me, I'm here for them."

In June 2019, the entertainer opened up about being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, discussing how it affects his career and life. His condition came to light when a doctor noticed symptoms while watching him on TV.
He revealed: "The consultant who first diagnosed me, the second time I went to see him, said 'I've just been watching you on Taskmaster, I wish I'd known. I would have diagnosed you far quicker.'".
