Viewers of Britain's Got Talent were left shocked and uneasy after witnessing professional sword swallower Auzzy Blood's intense and graphic act on the show.

The performance sparked a flurry of reactions on X, previously known as Twitter, where fans did not hold back their distress, with many labelling the act "disturbing" and questioning its appropriateness for television broadcast.

Auzzy Blood, who proudly holds three Guinness World Records, is accustomed to pushing the envelope. The seasoned artist has taken part in six different versions of the Got Talent franchise around the globe, including an earlier stint on America's Got Talent, reports the Mirror.

His reputation for performing perilous stunts spans across extreme body manipulation and sword swallowing, consistently delivering jolting spectacles that make audiences cringe. During his BGT audition, he escalated his risk-taking with a collection of perilous and shocking antics that made both judges and spectators squirm.

While the judges watched with awe-stricken faces, some at-home viewers were less enthusiastic, branding the act "gross" and questioning whether prime-time TV should feature such radical performances.

Social media was abuzz following the act, with one viewer commenting: "Auzzy Blood probably the most disturbing thing I've seen! what makes someone think I'm going to try and shove a metal hook up my nose."

Viewers have been left with mixed feelings over the daring performance, some finding it incredibly thrilling and others deeming it inappropriate. One viewer exclaimed: "Ohh my god auzzy that was flipping mad that was hard to watch but wow that was brilliant at the same time."

Another was both frightened and impressed, stating: "I'm actually terrified but amazed at auzzy blood rn." A third praised his act, penning: "Well, I loved the hook guy, Auzzy Blood! Terrifying, gruesome and my throat and nose hurt just watching him but he's unique!"

However, not all feedback has been positive. One critic argued: "AUZZY BLOOD on BGT was disgusting, not entertainment, pre watershed and a terrible example to children watching a supposed family show."

Some couldn't bear to watch, admitting: "Can't watch Auzzy Blood! what a weirdo! I've changed channel." Another expressed concern for younger viewers: "How horrific is that act? OMG so not suitable for kids to watch. One question though - How on earth would you even know you can do that? #BritainsGotTalent."

Known for pushing boundaries, Auzzy Blood has showcased his extreme acts previously on America's Got Talent in 2022 and on the Spanish version in 2023, appalling fans with an act that involves sword swallowing taken to extreme lengths. Hosts Ant and Dec warned viewers against attempting such stunts at home.

Simon Cowell had anticipated the controversy surrounding the act, commenting: "It's spooky horror where you don't want to watch it, but you do want to watch it. That's obviously why we're going to show it. We probably will get some complaints. Hopefully."

He humorously added: "I love it when they say 'don't try this at home' like we've all got screws and things just waiting to do that."

Britain's Got Talent airs Saturdays at 7pm on ITV1
