‘Stygian: Outer Gods’ Launches Into Early Access This Year; Demo Coming Next Week [Trailer]
by Mike Wilson · Bloody DisgustingAnnounced last April, Lovecraft fans will get their chance to experience Fulqrum Publishing and Misterial Games’ Stygian: Outer Gods later this year when the game enters Early Access. Still not soon enough? That’s okay, as the first-person Survival Horror title will be getting a demo during Steam Next Fest!
The game’s demo will be available throughout the event, from February 24 up to March 3. Yep, it’s another “blink and you’ll miss it” demo, so you’ll have to be quick to get your playtime in before the demo is gone. The demo will cover the very beginning of the story as you embark on your voyage to the cursed town of Kingsport.
“Our aim is to make Stygian: Outer Gods an unforgettable experience,” says the team. “We are using a non-traditional approach to horror, emphasizing the ambient atmosphere and creeping dread of the unknown, rather than setting up jumpscare after jumpscare or flooding the screen with tentacled monstrosities and gore; all the while providing rich gameplay with action, survival and RPG elements. Our design philosophy is to give players the freedom to find their own way through the story, to interact with the world as they choose, and to come up with the tactics and solutions that they enjoy.”
Set in the universe of 2019’s Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones, Outer Gods involves the events preceding the Black Day. You’ll take on the role of a mercenary accompanying the enigmatic girl to the foggy settlement of Kingsport to uncover her family’s dark secret. Unfortunately, you become shipwrecked, and soon encounter the nightmares that have haunted this place for centuries. You must now find your way out while preventing the coming of the ancient Outer Gods, all the while keeping your sanity.
The full 1.0 launch of Stygian: Outer Gods is expected for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series at a later date.
